ServSafe Alcohol New Instructor Recertification Process

Effective October 6, 2008, ServSafe Alcohol instructors whose certifications have expired or will expire soon, have to complete two important steps to become recertified:

  1. Instructors must have a current ServSafe Alcohol Certification with a score of 80% or better. Those who have not achieved a certification with this score can obtain it one of two ways:
  2. Instructors must then complete the ServSafe Alcohol Recertification Application (no charge).
    1. Take the ServSafe Alcohol Online Course and Primary Exam
    2. Attend a ServSafe Alcohol class and take either the Primary or Advanced Exam. Note: Instructors in Maryland and South Carolina must take the Advanced Exam.

Instructors have 90 days from the expiration date of their ServSafe Alcohol Instructor Certification to complete the renewal process. After this 90-day period, they will no longer have Instructor privileges and will have to go through the initial Instructor certification process.
